Docomomo WEWA
Are you interested in Mid-Century Modernism Architecture? Do you like touring beautifully curated homes that preserve the original design vision? Do you enjoy meeting and discussing modernism with other like minded individuals?
Well, if you answered yes to any of the previous questions we would like to extend a beta invite to the web’s newest online dating community: Mid-Century Love. You’ve seen match.com and eharmony, now let us welcome you to the newest dating community driven by the passion for Mid-Century Modernism. Ok, Ok, no new dating site here just a the local chapter of Docomomo WEWA or Documentary and Conservation of the Modern Movement, the Western Washington branch.
We’ve had Docomomo WEWA on our radar for awhile but yet to attend a tour (not to say that we haven’t intended to) but this upcoming tour may be the push we’ve been needing. On October 30th Docomomo will be hosting a tour of the McGrath residence. This cozy waterfront home was designed by our favorite OG Northwest Modernism Architect Paul Thiry (view profile here). Last spring one of his home was actually demolished and it was definitely a sad day for us and other enthusiasts.
The McGrath home is actually up for sale and is probably looking as good as it ever has (thats the way it always goes, no other reason to finish off all the projects), we are still unsure about going and meeting a bunch of new people but maybe if we pound some Sparks in the car before we go in we be a bit more cheery (j/k).
