Halfway through June and here in Washington we’ve barely even had a few days of sun, ehhh. I think the official first day of summer is next Monday so the weather had better get with the schedule!
Another summer means another wedding season and we’ve got more than a few celebrations to attend this summer. We love weddings (David especially enjoys the photography and videography aspect and Ashley for the design of invitations/print media) and we always find ourselves talking to friends about their plans and who’s doing what for them.
Just yesterday a friend (congrats to Jill & Nick) mentioned that she was starting her search for a wedding photographer and we immediately wanted to share with her our favorite local wedding photogs. Over the last year we’ve had this conversation with several friends and always enjoy sharing this info, because a great photographer is a vital part in remembering how great the wedding was.
Yes, there are many photographers out there and with that means many options in every region. Even if you are out of our area or already have some people in mind, be sure and take a look at what makes these people so great. They all are active in social media and have great blogs, not to mention they are amazing at what they do.
Without any further ado and in no particular order, here are some amazing photographers:
These two are super awesome photographers and a really cool husband and wife team. They travel all around the US during the wedding season photographing beautiful weddings. One of the best things about these guys is their blog, they update it all the time and are really generous in posting images from weddings, engagements, and mentor sessions. I know personally for me, their photos have been a huge inspiration for my personal photography. These two convey a really caring attitude and always talk about how much they love their clients. I can’t say for sure if every wedding they photograph really was perfect, but their pictures make you feel like it was. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook here and here or here and here.
This guy is everywhere, from the front page of the Seattle Times NW section (a couple weeks back) to a park near you. Jerome works super hard and is the epitome of a professional photographer, he always puts the client first, and takes care of all the details so the clients have nothing to worry about. Plus he shoots Nikon, which earns him extra cool points. Be sure to check out his Blog and Facebook for frequent updates.
The archetype of a visual creative, Jelani’s passion for visual art drives him to constantly be challenging himself to create in different mediums. Recently he just finished directorial debut for a short film called, Leverage, check it and other short films on his blog. I know from experience (he photographed our wedding) that he is the real deal. Jelani’s style is definitely his own and at our wedding we didn’t even notice him moving around and yet he still got all the shots we hoped for, plus some. Follow him on Twitter here.
If you are looking for the Bear Grylls of wedding photography this guy is it! I’ve been following Garrett’s work for a couple of years now and his style just keeps getting better and better. Garrett splits his time between adventure photography (skiing, climbing, kayaking, basically everything awesome and fun) and wedding photography. He also gets additional kudos because he shoots Nikon too. If you are looking for someone with an editorial wedding style, this guy is it. His pictures always rock and leave us saying wow! Of course you can find him on Twitter and Facebook too.

Over here at The Sunday Times Market we are huge fans of everything Seth Godin has to say, since we first read Purple Cow we’ve been hooked! We have already listened to Seth’s new book Linchpin several times via the audio-book (shout out for audio-books!) and recommend it to our clients on a regular basis…say no to the lizard brain!
Whats so great about Seth Godin is not just the fact that he writes insightful books that encourage us to pursue our passions, but the fact that he is ALWAYS producing content. Whether it’s on his blog (which he updates at least daily) or any of the wonderful TED talks (there’s several floating around) and of course all the interviews he does (personal favorites are with Andrew Warner of Mixergy).
So when we found out Seth was going on a ROAD TRIP speaking tour we couldn’t help but hope he would be making it out to the Pacific Northwest. Alas at this point there are no dates (however his site says more dates are in the works) for the Evergreen state. Currently there are four dates in Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, and DC.
So if he’s coming to your area and you haven’t yet heard, check out the details and you might be able to score some tickets. If you already know of Seth Godin, then you know this will be an event worth attending and if you haven’t, watch or listen to him here or here, or just do a good ole’ fashion google and decide for yourself.
For a recent interview, HERE is a short but as always, excellent audio interview with Seth from the marketing blog HubSpot.
