Modern Landscaping: Paths and Patios
Not sure where you stand on this, but Spring speaks gardening to us. Not just planting a garden, but all aspects of the yard. I love mowing the lawn (crazy right) and Ashley and my mom have been all about planting seed starts and cleaning out the beds, getting all the flower beds nicely manicured and just so. All the rose bushes have been carefully pruned and ready for the warm weather. Ahh yes, Spring is in the air and of course being in the PNW, nothing says Spring more than Daffodils and Tulips, especially for me because I grew up in Skagit Valley (tulip post coming soon).
Being all twitterpated about Spring has had our searches focused on outdoor inclinations. Just the other day, we were watching one of our new favorite shows, Marriage Under Construction, and the episode followed their backyard and patio renovation. They had some great stone work going on. After watching the show we wanted to see more outdoor love and went straight to Flickr and stumbled across the group Modern Landscaping which features inspired outdoor spaces.
Trying to pick out some favorites from this group sure was hard, but in the end we decided to go with stone pathways and patios, since I am planning on building one for my parents yard soon. Big thanks to all the folks and Modern Landscaping for all the inspiration!

Thank you so much for this. I live in Miami Beach and we are having a bear of a time finding someone, anyone, that shares our love of hardscapes…some concrete/stone walkways/patios. It’s all about the tropical landscaping here. I’m over it. Enough ferns and banana trees, please.

Wow – the use of stone here is fantastic. Love it in that last photo. Thanks for sharing.
