Etsy:: Holy PicClick Batman!
Breaking News….(kinda)
This week PicClick rolled out a really sweet new interface for Etsy. But, before we explain, here’s a quick rundown on PicClick.
PicClick.com has been around since September 2003 and really broke out in 2006, when they launched listpic.com a visual browsing and search tool for Craigslist. Unfortunately, 9 months later Craigslist blocked Listpic, citing reasons such as bandwidth drains and a shameless attempt to monetize Craigslist. However PicClick marched on unfaltering and they went on to further develop their powerful API based visual shopping technology. In 2008 PickClick.com unveiled the latest attempt to revolutionize the online shopping experience, by providing a visual search tool for ebay.com and soon after for amazon.com.
On to the main event, the reason Twitter and Etsy forums are a buzz (lol) today.
This week PicClick launched an Etsy version of PicClick, allowing shoppers to search through pages of thumbnails. The search can be specified through all the expected parameters; item,price, listing date, etc. This could be the greatest thing since sliced bread for some Etsy addicts. Users can quickly peruse items to find their desired treasure or discover all the stuff they never new they wanted (Regretsy). Not to mention the additional revenue PicClick will produce, here’s what Mashable had to say:
“As it stands, PicClick generates about $1 million in gross product sales per month for eBay and other sellers, so the integration of Etsy could prove to be a powerful sales tool for that site as well.”
Personally, we think this is amazing and gives us an additional reason to relist our stuff. :)
So, go check it out and let us know what you think.
