Anyone for a Stay-cation?
On this holiday weekend, often times people take to their favorite vacation spots to get a breather from the norm. Well we don’t happen to be one of those fortunate folks, so we thought we’d bring a little sunshine to your stay-cation weekend. Join us on this mid-century lovers dream vacation.
We’ll start first in New York. Because New York is our forever and always favorite.
We will be staying at The Standard on Washington St. A modern and mid-century inspired hotel. Luxury at its best.

so let’s drop off our bags so we can move onto Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market. The Disneyland of vintage markets. Oh, and make sure you brought your wallet…and maybe a van.
We will stop at this table and gawk and hoot at the booby mug,
but really we are contemplating how much we could get for it on Etsy.
Then we will talk to this guy and he will sell us all his finds for pennies. Because we are beautiful.
Then we will sit in these chairs and rest our feet. And this guy will tell us how beautiful we are.
hubba hubba.
All the while listening to this fella play, “I’m too sexy”.
And then we will plan our next destination.
Now we are off to our next stop in NYC…MoMA. We will be taking a gander at Gaston LACHAISE‘s “Floating Figure”. The statue to which the Eames “la Chaise” lounge chair was based off of. (technically it is not up for view currently, however as this is the home of the statue, we will pretend.)

Ok, we better get to the airport quick…we have a flight to Palm Springs, Ca. Where we will be staying at the Parker Palm Springs Hotel. One of the coolest, mid-century inspired hotels. Here we will be doing absolutely nothing, except of course for soaking in all this while sipping cocktails by the pool.
s’mores anyone?
Ok, we know it is hard to leave this place, but we must catch a quick plane back over the states to reach our next destination: Cranbrook Academy of Arts. Designed by Eliel Saarinen and home of some very incredible alumni; Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames, Ray Eames, and Eero Saarinen, just to name a few.
Ok, we know that was a short trip, but we have to hurry if we are going to make our last two stops before our stay-cation is over.
Off to Copenhagen, the home of Arne Jacobsen’s Royal Hotel, where we will be staying in Room 606..the suite designed head-to-toe by Jacobsen himself. Unfortunately, this is the only room that was completely preserved during the hotel’s renovation. Isn’t the furniture wonderful? You can learn more about it here… Danish Furniture
We are now going to visit one of the coolest museums ever… Kunst Industri Museet: Danish Museum of Art & Design.

Well, I believe we have run out of time my friends. It is time to catch that red-eye back home so we can make it to work on time on Tuesday. We hope you’ve had a little fun joining us on our adventure. Until our next stay-cation, good night!
