Hans Bølling Duck

First off, we have to just get it out there how great we think this piece is! This little guy reflects all the usual descriptors: clean, simple, elegant, warm. Basically, we really feel that this unassuming wood duck has characteristics everyone is charmed by.
So as the story goes (maybe with a little embellishment to spice up your day)…
“It was a beautiful spring day in Denmark, bright blue sky cradling the warm sun and everyone had somewhere to go. Sidewalks were bustling with bodies while the streets were crowded with automobiles and bicycles. At a glance, it would have seemed that no one on that busy day cared about anything other than the task at hand.
At the intersection of one of the busiest streets in town, was Officer Krupke, a man who was responsible for not only the traffic, but also the well being of all pedestrians about. Now on this busy day when the traffic was heaviest, out of the blue, Officer Krupke stopped traffic for an unseen pedestrian. Now this caused quite a stir among all the drivers as they stretched their necks back and forth to see the reason for the delay. To everyone’s surprise, it was a small family of ducks making their way across the street! Within the moments of this action, a serendipitous photographer carefully snapped a photo of this gentle action.
Soon after the photo was developed it received national acclaim for what was described as the epitome of Danish culture: attention to detail and respect for nature. It was that very photograph that inspired Hans Bølling (a man who received his formal education in Architecture) to create the charming duck family.”
